About this project

MineJS is a Minecraft remake I made for the browser. It has zero dependencies and runs on pure WebGL2. Every texture, mob skin and tool icon is drawn procedurally in code, and the sound effects and music are synthesized on the fly, so the game loads no image or audio files. To play, double-click index.html: nothing to install, no internet needed.

The world is infinite, with 9 biomes, caves, ravines and ore veins, and a day/night cycle. It has health and hunger, 50+ block types, 60+ crafting recipes, furnaces, flowing water and lava, farming and TNT, plus pigs, cows, sheep, zombies and creepers. Worlds auto-save, and there is a creative mode and a third-person view.

Under the hood, terrain streams in 16×16×128 chunk columns, meshes use per-face culling and per-vertex ambient occlusion, and light spreads by flood fill across chunk borders. The repo ships with 49 logic tests that run under Node, plus a headless Chrome screenshot test.
